Eating Meat and Eating People (Philosophy and Religious Studies Roundtable Series)
Led by Dr. Matthew Pianalto: Peter Singer and Tom Regan are two of the most influential contemporary philosophers who argue in defense of vegetarianism. Cora Diamond, who is also a vegetarian, finds their arguments unconvincing. Her critique of their approaches raises provocative questions about animal ethics, the nature of ethical argumentation, and the status of our basic attitudes about humans and animals.
Those who are interested may find her essay “Eating Meat and Eating People” on JSTOR, but pre-reading is not required for participation in the discussion!
